It was a joy to take engagement pictures for Mike and Crystal. For the past 10 years, Mike and I have had the chance to sing together on a weekly basis and I can attest to his immense talent as a musician and as a visual artist. In fact, Mike used his skills as a graphic designer to bring to life the concept of my photography logo.

Mike and Crystal knew their relationship was meant to be from the moment they met. It is clear how happy they make each other and it was a pleasure to photograph this wonderful couple.

Bethany is currently the choir director at Lovejoy High School in Lucas, Texas. I first met her when she was an undergraduate music major at Texas Tech and have always been impressed with her. In addition to being beautiful, Bethany possesses one of the finest minds I've ever known. Bethany has a special gift for foreign languages that perfectly complements her teaching of singing. Rachel's new smile ~ Lubbock, TX ~ Lubbock Photographer

Yesterday, my daughter Rachel lost her first tooth at age 4 1/2. It had been loose for about a week and yesterday, she pulled it out all by herself. She presented her tooth along with a new gap in her grin. I took some pictures of her today

This has been a momentous week in the Barrick household for another reason: On Monday, the Kentucky men's basketball team won its 8th National Championship. For a Kentucky girl like me, it means the world. Go Cats!

Adventures with off-camera flash ~ Lubbock, TX ~ Lubbock Photographer

I had the privilege of attending a photography workshop in February and got to learn a little bit about off-camera flash with Barry Nelson from Captivated Images of Lubbock. This was my first time using off-camera flash and I was amazed at how it enhances the images. I used a 580 EX II speedlight with a Canon 5D Mark II and an 85 mm lens at f/1.8.

Karla is so much fun. In preparation for her recital at Texas Tech, I took pictures of Karla with her Euphonium.  Karla is brilliant, talented, upbeat, and a joy to be around.

Dr. John Petzet is currently the Assistant Professor of Choral Studies at Louisiana State University, but I first met him in 2004 when he was pursuing doctoral studies at Texas Tech. From the time of our first conversation, I knew our friendship would last a lifetime.  Although we no longer live in the same place, I was able to catch up with him a few weeks ago at the Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA) conference in San Antonio. It is always a pleasure to see John. His headshots are below:

Clemmie's exceptional singing ability has been evident for quite some time. When I met her, she was in Elementary School, but she could already sing and she could sing well. It wasn't long before she began earning honors for her singing. Most recently, she was named the 1st place winner of the High School Regional National Association of Teacher's of Singing (NATS) competition for two years in a row. I should mention that she's only 16-years-old. Winning this competition two years ago is unprecedented and doing it so young is short of unbelievable. Of course, Clemmie needed headshots. Anyone with talent like hers needs headshots. I was honored to take her pictures:
